Welcome, Students!

Whether this is your first experience with "districts" or you just need to get reacquainted, here is some information to help you get involved:

WHAT ARE "Districts?"

"Districts" is an opportunity for students to perform inspiring and challenging ensemble music with motivated students from other schools.

    • We offer symphonic bands, choruses, string ensembles, and jazz bands for grades 6-8 and 9-12.
    • Green Mountain Music District V includes about 60 elementary, middle, and high schools from central to southwestern Vermont.
    • If your school is not listed yet or your family home-schools, you can still participate!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING IN THE DISTRICT FESTIVAL PROCESS?

Students participating in auditions and/or festivals have opportunities to:

  • make great music with other talented musicians
  • make new friends with similar music interests
  • find new sources of motivation to learn solo repertoire for your instrument or voice part
  • perform in larger, more traditionally complete groups
  • perform more challenging ensemble repertoire
  • receive great feedback on your musicianship
  • learn from, and work with new conductors.
  • be inspired by other student ensembles and performers.
  • perform for a large audience
  • enhance your resume for jobs or college
  • have fun making music with others
