Whether you are new to Green Mountain Music District V or you just want to get more involved, here is some information for you to get started

"Districts" is an opportunity for students to perform inspiring and challenging ensemble music with motivated students from other schools.

HOW CAN I GET MORE INVOLVED?

  A non-profit educational organization like GMMDV does not run by itself. We need volunteers, like you!  Our handbook includes detailed explanations of the roles and  responsibilities for each position in the GMMDV. There are also plenty of experienced members to get advice from.

HOW DO I HELP MY STUDENTS PARTICIPATE?

10 Steps to Help Your Students Participate in GMMDV:

 

1. Explore the audition requirements for the ensemble(s) via the website. You can also contact officers and other members with questions. Buy audition piece/book(s) if necessary. [ASAP] 

2. Inform students and families about GMMDV. Depending on your school's policies, send home permission slips, create sign-ups sheets, etc. [September] 

 

3. Register your students online or via mail by the due date in early October. Mail audition fees to the treasurer. Some schools pay the fees for students, others collect fees from families. 

4. Help your students learn the audition music. Print the relevant audition forms, review the content with your students, and help them walk into their auditions with them in hand! [October-November]

 

5. Depending on your school's policies, arrange transportation for your students and accompany them to their audition in November (one evening for grades 9-12, another for grades 6-8). 

 

6. Wait for audition results and forms to arrive. Share them with your students and help them understand the results. [November]

 

7. If your students are accepted, they will need completed medical forms to participate. Mail these and participation fees by the due date in early December. If your students are not accepted, please try again next year!      

 

8. Wait to receive festival music from ensemble managers. Inform families and the community of the festivals/concerts according to your school's policies. [January-February]

 

9. Help your students learn the festival music, using online recordings and other resources if applicable. Review the festival schedule and requirements. Help your students come prepared with their instruments, supplies, clothing, food, etc. [January-February] 

 

10. Depending on your school's policies, arrange transportation for your students and accompany them to the festivals. Enjoy a day of interacting with your colleagues and listening to students grow! [February/March]
